# 3.4 VEME the Company

VEME started in 2015 as a traditional LLC with employees and is winding up its operations to transition fully into a DAO structure. However, a DAO does not mean there are no legal containers and no operating entities. It simply means those entities are more distributed, and that they are technically ‘owned’ in full or in part by the ‘DAO’ itself.

\
Currently, there are few actual ‘orgs’ that are DAOs because of the lack of this infrastructure; rather most DAOs are investment vehicles, protocol management, or platform management structures.\
\
VEME is aiming to pioneer this transition from a ‘company’ into a DAO while honoring all initial investors, team members, and agreements.
